back then ...
We had to walk, ride, or travel to the store.
Now, it can be done on the internet ...
I favor the old way. Wink

Turn a roll of film in to be developed
(From a camera)
Usually it was week to get the photos.
* unless you had a Polaroid Camera
Where you could watch them develop
Or peel after a minute or two ... A layer
Off to see the photo.

I saw a movie way back when....
Someone took pictures and they were
there instantly ...
And I thought what a great idea -
I'd like to have one of those. Smile

Back in the day we had vinyl records & cassette tapes along w/ bulky stereo equipment we had to haul each time we moved. Thankfully nowadays we have thousands of albums that can sit in the palm of our hand & fabulous wireless speakers to listen to them without any skips, pops or crackling. Sure wish they had this technology in the 70's/80's.

That is funny and a flashback of all the
boxes of records and priority of where to
hook the stero up and run the speaker
Wires etc... Smile

We saved glass soda bottles and took them back to the store when they were empty & got the deposit back. It was anywhere from a few cents to a dime.

They didn't need batteries either.

The best toys never do.

We had to constantly adjust the V shaped antenna on top of the TV, depending on the channel we were watching. We called them rabbit ears...There was no cable TV.

You didn't mention if you pounded
the TV with your fist and then the
picture was good. Or had a good
picture at the rabbit ears, but it went away
when you went back to sit down.
Someone would say "just stay there" Mr. Green

Laughing I had forgotten that bit.
We let our dad do the pounding of the TV... and yes, he would say "just stay there" if we tried to help... Wink of course when he was out we all had our own favorite spots for those rabbit ears... It was an early theory lesson.

Back in my day, "life hacks" were called common sense. And common sense was pretty common.

I remember going through the "want ads"
in a newspaper - multiple pages of jobs
and descriptions. Many didn't fit - but there
was no filter - so you would look at them
all.... Then send a resume and cover
letter by mail * sometimes call.

By comparison -
Last year plus some time -
I had the resume and additional details
about me - in a few places - and "filtered"
The types of jobs, locations etc....
I could find out who companies were
By Web sites and other info -
One place showed me their place
And who was interviewing me
before even meeting.
Smile
Even with all this .... There is a lot
Of work to it ....
In the past ... I wasted my time looking
And not fitting what they wanted
As well as it wanted their time...

away from home we had telephone booths
no cell phones; no texting; no games ....
you couldn't leave a message ... if someone wasn't there
ring, ring, ring
it was only to talk to someone in person
and there might have been a line
because someone in the booth was taking their time
keeping those in line anxiously waiting
it was a time when you got to the point for the call
because you had to deposit coins (money)
too bad if you ran out of change
no credit cards
cash only
but we didn't mind
that's the way it was

We had to go to the bank -
Usually on pay day to "directly deposit"
A paycheck. And do many transfers
There that today you can just do in
seconds online, phone, tablet etc....

Next: Had to have a map in the car
For trips (you still can) .. It was necessary.

Smile
